Link your mobile and your PAN — it powers every OTP and KYC.
What it is
Aadhaar is your 12-digit identity number. With a mobile linked to it, it unlocks instant e-PAN, KYC, bank and UPI setup through OTPs.
Why it matters
If no mobile is linked, you cannot receive OTPs and most online steps stop working. Linking PAN to Aadhaar is also mandatory — an unlinked PAN becomes inoperative.
How to do it
- Update your mobile number or address at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra (a mobile update cannot be done fully online).
- Link PAN with Aadhaar on the Income Tax portal — free if already done; a late fee may apply if it is overdue.
Documents you need
- Your existing Aadhaar.
- Supporting proof for any update (address, etc.).
How long it takes
Updates usually reflect in 7–15 days.
