The golden rule: a real job or genuine work never asks you to pay money to earn money.
Warning signs — stop if you see any of these
- You're asked to pay a fee, deposit, "registration", "training" or "kit" to start.
- "Guaranteed income" or "earn ₹2,000/day from home" with no real work described.
- Anyone asks for your OTP, UPI PIN, CVV, bank login or card details.
- You're asked to buy a "package" first, then "unlock" higher earnings (task/prepaid scams).
- Pressure and urgency — "limited seats", "pay in 10 minutes".
- Pay upfront for "materials" you'll supposedly be reimbursed for.
- Crypto, forex or "doubling" schemes promising fixed returns.
How to protect yourself
- Never pay to get work, and never share an OTP or PIN.
- Search the company name with the word "scam" before you commit.
- Keep all conversation and payment on the official platform.
- If you've been cheated, report it fast: call 1930 or go to cybercrime.gov.in.
